  Hello,

I am a new member of Rapid Fitness.  My sister has been a member for over a year or so and wasn't utilizing it to her advantage.  After Xmas she asked me to join and keep her on track.  I was reluctant because RF doesn't offer the Silver Sneakers program and I can't afford the membership...but she offered to pay half.  We made our deal and I became a memeber.  We started Jan 1, 2013...no excuses!  My major problem is transportation, I rely on my sister to get to the gym.

We started with the aqua classes taught by Bonny...I love the water and her class is great!  We would come on Sundays after church, and Wed/Sat Aqua, rounding out our week with 3 times a week.  My sister put my name in a bowl and I got a call from Jack offering me a free session...okay.
Took some doing but I finally met with Jack...we talked, I told him my issues, what I'm doing to make some changes in my life, and displayed my positive, although sacastic attitude and there must have been a bond of some kind.  Jack took me under his wing.  So now I feel as if I have 2 trainers...both pushing me on land & water.

Since mid January, I see Jack once a week.  Jack has been pushing me to my limits, just enough to make me try harder, push myself, and believe in myself, and trust him.  I'm very comfortable with Jack.
We keep things real, we share, we growl, we make plans.  When I don't feel good for whatever reasons, be it personal or physical, Jack lifts my spirits and makes me feel better.  After I was getting my stride going good, I was hit with news of having type 2 Diabetes.  Hit me hard.  Can't afford the meds, frustrated with Doctors etc., yet thru all of what I'm going thru I stay posistive...Jack helps with that.

I have noticed several changes.  I now walk around the track!  I fought Jack tooth and nail when he suggested it!  Thought I wasn't gonna make it!  We figured out how to get me to do the laps...yes laps, and not fall out.  I'm feeling stronger, more confident in what I can achieve.

I joke with Jack that he is torturing me and that I'm gonna stuff him in a corner somewhere...then I just push on.  I'm glad he has come into my life.  He is very optimistic and encouraging.  I am experiencing great improvements and I really just want to say...
THANK YOU!!!  I APPRECIATE ALL THAT YOU DO!

A very satisfied patron of Rapid Fitness...

"I would firstly wish to express how truly pleasant and enjoyable it is to walk into the gym and, regardless of who person behind the front desk is, say hello, or how are you today…WOW, that is worth the membership alone, to be treated with dignity and respect in the retail world today can only be described as priceless… you have taken and complied a truly worthy group of people and made a brand that is nothing less than prestige.

I came to the states seven years ago and joined a few gyms: “Gold’s Beyond fitness,” “Life Style-Life Time,” all of them left me feeling as if It was a privilege to be allowed in each day. I recently came to Rapid Fitness because after 4 years at “Life Style-Life Time,” I was growing very ill of the broken equipment, the broken lockers, the lazy ridiculous staff on their cell phones, and then after being carded in every day by the same girl, one morning I lost my card and when I said to the girl that I had misplaced my card, her response to me was, “Are you sure you’re a member here?” after four years almost every day taking my card and badgering me in, I’m asked that question.. I responded “NOT ANY MORE.” Being British, I tend to get a bit high in my crown but I wanted to make sure you know what a great job and a great staff you have at both your downtown location as well as the North Ridge location. It’s a sheer joy being welcomed as well as the spotless detail to how well you keep everything. I hope my next 4 years here grow to many, many more."

"Just wanted to comment on how much I like the instructors at North Ridge. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and really great at their jobs. I regularly take Chris's RPM class, Sonia's Zumba class and, until it was canceled, Allison and Liz's Sunday afternoon body combat class. All of the classes are so good and such great workouts. Kandace's Zumba class is amazing too. Because of my schedule, I am limited on when I can go to classes. I will really miss the Sunday Combat class, but I understand why it was canceled. There were about 7 of us that were always there. I wish there was a way we could convince people to try it. Anyway, thank you for hiring the best instructors!"

"In April 2011, I decided it was time to add exercise to my quest for better health. I have been overweight most of my life and was trying to change that. My daughter, who is a member of Rapid and loves it, suggested I join. The first night I came in, I walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes and thought I was going to pass out. I told my daughter I might be able to fit in 1 or 2 visits/week. My free physical assessment lasted 2 nights and 3 hours but in the end, I had signed a year contract for personal training three times a week. The reaction of everyone that knows me was shock and disbelief. I even started counting how many more sessions I had before this deal ended. At the very young age of, well let's just say over 50, I had never been in a gym or exercised.

Joining the gym and signing that contract for personal training has proved to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. From a health perspective, I was fortunate to get the best personal trainer for me, Rick Jordan, and he has changed my life. He has worked with me through knee and leg injuries and back pain - all of which are gone now. He motivates, inspires, pushes and makes me feel good about my progress, which I usually think is going too slow. I feel better than I ever have, my doctors are ecstatic and I've increased my sessions with him to four/week and signed on for another year. While working out with a personal trainer for 14 months, I've observed the other personal trainers and talked with other clients and believe that Rapid Fitness has an outstanding personal training program with great trainers who care.

From a personal perspective, I have always felt welcome and supported by the staff at Rapid. Being greeted and welcomed when I walk in the door helps make me feel at ease and comfortable even on the days when I feel like I am too old. The staff at the Glenwood location is awesome. I look forward to coming to the gym now and miss the staff and the gym when I am not able to come for a few days which is a testament to what a great experience it is. Not too bad for someone who had never been in a gym before. Thank you and keep up the good work, Rapid."

"I am a former Peak member and have been completely blown away by the transformation you guys have done to the North Ridge location. The staff and instructors are amazing and are really what keep me coming every week.

I'm a huge fan of the classes (especially Pump and Combat) and would love to see a CX Works class in the evenings or on the weekends. (I work in Durham Mon-Fri and can only work out evenings/weekends.) Another flow class would be awesome as well!"

"Thanks so much for the update and for staying current with members' needs. I am a former Peak member and cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am with what you have already done to the place and how pleased I am that I joined your membership. I wish you continued success and look forward to being here (at North Ridge) for a long time."

"Thank you so much for caring about our gym and your members. Your email put a big smile on my face. I take all the classes you offer, so you can imagine how happy I am that you plan to add 20+ more in Oct/Nov.

I don’t know what I would do without my Rapid Fitness. I moved to the USA in 1990 from London, UK and during that time I have moved around the country. Raleigh has been my home now since 1996. Over the years I have tried many gyms, but none can compete with Rapid. The gym has a great family feel about it. Staff, Instructors, Trainers, and Members are all so friendly, and I know it is genuine.

Thank you for brightening up my life and making our gym the BEST!!!!!"

"P.S. I loved the Sh’bam Master class this past Saturday. Wow, I had so much fun."

"Thank you for the invitation to provide feedback! I have enjoyed getting back into weight-lifting at your gym, and am beginning to feel at home. I enjoy how I'm always spoken to when I walk in the door, and have started to recognize faces and make connections. I can't believe it's been 9 weeks! I've taken advantage of the free personal training session, but not the free health assessment - I plan to do that sometime soon.

I've already made great gains in muscle strength, and look forward to continuing to improve. Thanks for the support! See you soon! Today is shoulders... :)"

"I have been a member of several gyms for 25 years and can say that by far Rapid Fitness is the best gym I have ever belonged to. The staff and members are super friendly and very helpful. Chase has been wonderful. I will continue my membership when mine expires as long as I am in the area.

Thank you so much for offering top notch equipment that is serviced on a regular basis and a very clean environment!"

Rapid Fitness Member - Before and After"Three years ago I began an incredible journey back to health. Rapid Fitness has been an integral part of my personal transformation. In fact, I can say that Rapid Fitness helped save my life. I am writing this letter to tell you what Rapid Fitness means to me in order to influence any significant changes that you may make concerning the future of Rapid Fitness.

I faced a life threatening illness and weighed around 290 pounds when I started working out. I was a member at a local gym that did not provide the environment that I needed to continue training with the intensity I needed. I met Ray at a health fair and he invited me to the Glenwood Avenue location and I was sold on the gym immediately. The sales staff was enthusiastic and professional and the gym was incredible. Over the last couple of years, Rapid became a home away from home for my wife and me. Losing almost 95 pounds, I got into the best shape of my life, even better than when I was a young Marine.

My battle with prostate issues was defeated in the sweat filled workouts at Rapid and the diet changes in my life. Rapid means everything to me it has been the place where miracles began to happen in my life. I have met so many good friends there. My wife and I tried for years to have children and because of my health issues, it seemed like it was going to be impossible. On March 17th, our daughter was born in Rex Hospital, the greatest joy of our life and as corny as it sounds, part of that miracle I give credit to having an awesome place to work out in and get healthy. I know that the gym industry by nature is a tough business and I pray that Rapid continues to thrive as an organization.

Whatever your original motivation was for creating such an incredible gym, please remember that you are changing lives and that has eternal rewards that exceed any monetary consideration. I know that you are a business, man all I ask is that you do all you can to keep the doors open for a long time. There has been some changes that raise flags in the minds of some members like myself that depend on the excellence of your organization to provide a gym of this caliber to stay healthy.

What you have done with Rapid is inspiring and I know with all that goes on behind the scenes that it is not an easy task to keep it going the way you do. My wife and I want to thank you and your staff for the last two years which have been the best of my life and thank you for being a part of our miracle.

Just over two years ago when I walked in the doors of Rapid, I had no idea of the incredible influence your gym would have on our life and as I look at our daughter, I am overcome with emotion and cannot thank you enough for your role in our life.

Please pass these sentiments on to your staff."

"There were days last year when I have felt so stressed out and too tired to go on and I wanted to cry (I know, right, me crying?). And everyday I would get myself up and head out to the gym and you all would make me laugh and think and realize that the only thing holding me from being a better me was myself. So maybe all the crazy jokes I make don't always make sense but thank you, honestly, for always taking the time to talk, to listen, to help me out and to push me to never give up on me. I may not express it out loud but your gym saved my health, made me stronger and made me realize who I really want to be. You can't repay that kindness because it's something that comes from people who care. So may I pay it forward with the people I care for everyday at work.

Thank you more than I get to say."

"On behalf of the players, parents and coaches of the Triangle Blazers Basketball Club, I would like to thank you for providing our players with the opportunity to workout in your facility and the T-Shirts you donated to our program. Two of our freshmen made their varsity high school team. Their parents credit the conditioning they received in our SQA Program (made possible by you) as playing a key role in their success.

Our players and coaches LOVE the T-Shirts and wear them proudly. The shirts also provide us with a great opportunity to talk about your wonderful facility and your professional knowledgeable staff. I was always greeted with a big smile when I walked in by the front desk staff. We tell everyone we can Rapid Fitness is the place to go for quick results done right.

Thanks again for your support. I look forward to the chance to work with you and your staff again soon."

"Group Fitness classes taken to date: Body Flow, Zumba, Body Combat, Hip Hop Hustle, RPM and Body Pump.

At each of these classes, I never feel intimidated. The instructors are always great in providing the level that we each may need. I always feel good after my class and enjoy the warm welcome and encouragement that I always receive.
Body Flow –I have seen a significant difference in my flexibility, balance and body strength since taking Body Flow.

Zumba – I am not a dancer but it’s all about fun and movement and we do lots of that. Love the music.

Body Combat – this is my grrr-class. Love the empowerment that I feel.

RPM – what a workout!

Hip Hop Hustle – loads of fun and great music!

Body Pump – I must work more of this into my schedule – perfect combination of muscle and cardio.

The technique classes are very informative. It’s great to break down the movements to make sure that we have the best form. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to see other instructors that you might not have worked with before.

All in all I am very happy with RGF. The instructors are always available to answer questions and offer encouragement. I enjoy explaining the classes to the “newbies” and always recommend RGF to people that I work with and see."

"I joined Rapid Fitness July 30, 2010. I was a member of the gym when it was Spa Health Club over 25 years ago. I have been doing aerobics and step aerobics for 25 years. I used to teach in my younger years and have enjoyed it immensely. I left this location over 3 years ago when things were changing and joined O2 fitness club for the past 3 years.

I LOVE aerobics, when the music starts I don't feel like I am working out. I came back to this gym because I saw Anthony, Mike, and Darise on the schedule. I have been taking their classes for years and missed them so. I am glad to be back and taking Anthony's class on Tuesday night 7:40 pm. On a good note I got my husband to join the gym with me, first time in all the 34 years we have been married. I can't believe he has lost 12 pounds since he joined 2 years ago, but he is now a member of Rapid Fitness with me. Thank you!"

"Someone asked me recently to write a testimonial about RF. I quickly accepted in hopes of relaying the excitement I feel for this gym. Since RF's opening day, I've been a dedicated member and can be seen at the gym at least 5 days a week.

I went through two pregnancies and had 2 children in the span of 3 years. My girls are 19 months apart, and my body was not prepared for the sudden changes and lack of time to recover. In light of three moves & two pregnancies in this time frame, two of these moves cross-country, I never felt settled enough to re-gain control over my fitness.

We have now been settled in Raleigh for over 2 years, and I've been with RF for a year and a half. This allowed me to commit to get this "baby weight" off and get my activity level to where it was pre-kids. It's been over a year and a half since I started on this trail, and was at my pre-baby weight 5 months after joining RF and at my goal weight for the past 8 months, although I continue to get stronger and more fit.

People ask me what I do when I work out, and my usual response is "group fitness classes." They usually want to know specifics. I respond "RPM (spinning), bodystep, bodypump, kickboxing, and some weight lifting." Getting in shape has also motivated me to set my goals even higher and am in training for a triathlon and an upcoming half marathon. I need classes to keep me motivated and interested. I'm not one to walk on a treadmill for an hour. Too boring! The excitement that comes with being in class and "in the trenches" with other folks, working hard along with me, keeps me motivated. I need that. The variety of classes offered at RF to keep my work-out regimen from stagnating is also a must. All teachers are receptive to questions or suggestions, and although they push us hard, most of us recognize that it's only for our own good. I want them to push me even harder.

With these changes, I feel a new sense of strength and stability. I feel empowered in all aspects of my life and strong both physically and mentally. Thank you, Rapid Fitness."

"I started doing the group fitness classes first just because I had a friend who taught them; honestly I did not expect to enjoy them, but I have turned into a total group fitness junkie.

I have some classes that I just love (BodyJam and Hip Hop Hustle for example) and other classes that i take because they provide such a great work out that i feel good after the class. But, what keeps me coming back (besides the rocking instructors that Rapid Fitness has, I mean) is the fact I look forward to sweating to some good music, the instructors are encouraging and I LOVE the classes.

Being in the classes has helped me lose about 80 pounds to reach my goal weight and I have competed in 2, yes 2 and I am working on my 3rd, mini sprint women's only triathlon. I am still in the back of the pack, but without the cardio exercise I get in those classes, I would never have thought of trying the first one."

Hello,

My name is Valerie Cameron. I started at Rapid Fitness on Glenwood on September 4th. Up until that point I was what I like to refer to as a 'gym virgin'. I had never gone to a gym, let alone joined a gym. I had thought about it a few times and visited a few gyms in the area, but I never felt comfortable when I walked in and by the time I finished the tour, all of my fears were confirmed. It made it easy to continue to tell myself that I was "not a gym person".

Walking into Rapid Fitness changed my thinking and is now changing my life. I came to a crossroads in August, after my annual checkup, where my lab results were pointing towards me getting closer to my (deceased) parent's diabetes and heart disease issues. I had entered the 'at risk' zone, despite my best efforts to avoid it on my own. My doctor had written the RX for the equipment to begin checking my glucose levels daily. I left her office feeling upset and a little angry, with both myself and her. I didn't like that she was just going to stand by and watch me go down that path, as if there was nothing else I could do. I knew that something else was joing a gym and I literally felt sick to my stomache knowing I was going to have to join one whether I liked it or not.

I made a list of gyms within 15 minutes of where I lived and started visiting them, with my husband. (He has worked out at various gyms almost daily for the 32 years we've been married.) We walked into them and walked out of them. I hated that I couldn't find one, just ONE, that I felt comfortable in. Then we walked into Rapid Fitness. We were acknowleged promptly and greeted with a smile. Promising. It felt wide open. I could breathe. The light was good. I would be able to see what I was doing. The music wasn't too loud, but loud enough to help motivate. It didn't smell 'funky', like a locker room. We actually saw people cleaning the floors and equipment (and they didn't even know we were coming). Nice. We were given a tour, by Aubrey. He was personable and took the time to inquire about our needs. The locker rooms were clean and very nice. There was plenty of equipment available and all of it was in good repair and clean. We never felt rushed. I noticed people of all ages, shapes and abilities there. For the first time after touring a facility, I felt like maybe, just maybe, I could actually do this.

My husband, who's belonged to many gyms, was ready to leave his and come on over, along with our son and his girlfriend, to Rapid Fitness.

I knew I couldn't do it alone, and had discussed getting a personal trainer to teach me how to work out. I knew nothing and found the atmosphere somewhat intimidating, honestly. My husband was supportive and so I met with Caitlyn next. We talked about my goals and I told her that I wanted to retain a trainer for 6 months to start (on a twice a week then 3 times a week rotation). I just wanted to learn how to use the equipment properly, to minimize risk of injury, gain strength and flexibility, have someone to hold me accountable, oh and drop 50 pounds by the end of the 6 months (March 4th). She didn't look at me funny and laugh, instead she seemed to think that was entirely possible and told me she could match me up with "the right trainer".

I got a call from my personal trainer, Matt, the night before my first session. He sounded like a nice enough guy. He told me the only thing he asked of his clients was not to say "I can't". (Hmmm....this was going to hurt.) I assured him I would not allow those words to worm their way into my vocabulary. They haven't. The reason they haven't is simply because Matt has been guiding me through this journey to wellness expertly. He has convinced this ex-gym virgin, that she is on her way to being "an athlete". He has made me remeber what it was like when I was a serious dancer for 16 years. (I was strong. I was flexible. I worked through pain. It was a long time ago, but perhaps she's still in there.) Because I trust my trainer, I am able to trust in the process. I not only have to come to the gym, for my health, but I want to come to the gym. I will go so far as to say that I enjoy coming to Rapid Fitness. Whether I'm working out with Matt, or on my own, I feel comfortable there.

I expected I might come close to losing 50 pounds by March, but honestly, I thought that 'people like me' din't get results like that. Well, I've done what my Matt has sked me to do and have lost 17 1/2 pounds, plus inches and body fat in 8 weeks. I'm shooting for another 10 pound weight loss in my second month. I am thrilled with my progress. I am left wondering , "What else am I capable of?". Do I dare to think I may be able to actually lose ALL of the weight I have gained over the years? ALL 86 pounds. Yes. I am thinking that I CAN do whatever I decide I WILL do. I am not ready to do it by myself and am thankful that I have someone like Matt, who thoroughly believes in what he does, to hold my hand (and kick my butt) through this process. I am considering signing on for an additonal 6 months in February, to see if I can truly get rid of ALL of the weight and get back to being the person I was. I'm finding I have a lot of 'baggage' to lose along with this weight. Some days are emotional. Matt has a wonderful combination of sensitivity and humor to help motivate me to get through my workouts. I told Caitlyn to match me up with someone who would push me to get outside my comfort zone and not take any crap from me. He does, and he doesn't.

I am thankful every morning for the way I feel and for the fact that you, as owners, have cared about creating an amazing environment.
My husband, my children, my sisters and my friends all thank you.

I can't wait for next August, when I walk into my doctor's office. I will show her, like I am showing myself, that one should never give in, give up, or take anything for granted. We all have a choice.
I chose to take control of my health and wellbeing.

Thank you for being my facilitators!

Sincerely,

Rapid Fitness Member
