Rapid Fitness To Offer ZumbAtomic® For Children Ages 5-12 At Its Glenwood LocationRaleigh Fitness Center Launches New Class For Children That Incorporates A Variety Of Movements, Dances And Games
-
RALEIGH, N.C. - Rapid Fitness (http://www.rapidfitness.com), powered by Triumph Group Management, has announced that the gym is offering ZumbAtomic®, a fun and healthy program designed for kids using the Zumba® concept, and incorporating a variety of movements, dances and games. The class also embeds social skills, discipline, respect and leadership skills in a fun but structured way. No previous experience is needed to participate in the class.
The ZumbaAtomic® classes begin Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 4:30 p.m. and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. at the Glenwood Avenue location at 7101 Glenwood Ave. Classes are open to all children and special discounts are available for parents who join Rapid Fitness with a kid's Zumba membership.
One out of every five American children is overweight, primarily due to inactivity and poor nutritional choices, and will face increasing health problems related to this as he or she matures. ZumbAtomic® is aimed to counteract these problems with a kid-friendly workout that is as much about fun as it is about fitness. Children will learn fitness dances, play fun motivational games, and learn new rhythms and styles of music and culture. All classes are taught to cultivate individuality and creativity, team work, pride, confidence, and responsibility.
It is recommended that children take part in structured exercise throughout the week. ZumbAtomic® classes are a great way to keep kids active and entertained. By taking part in structured exercise classes, children will be on their way to living a healthy life and are less likely to suffer from obesity and other health-related issues as an adult. Exercise is important for children's growth and development, not only for their body but also their minds. ZumbAtomic® helps to develop confidence, coordination, stamina, balance, discipline, memory and creativity.

"Rapid Fitness is committed to helping reduce childhood obesity, which has become a significant dilemma in our country," said Michael Rattenni, owner of Rapid Fitness. "Our ZumbAtomic® classes will help kids stay active and participate in a program that is a lot of fun yet good for their physical well-being. The kids will be able to make new friends, gain confidence and improve their motor skills and coordination dramatically." -

Rapid Fitness relocates to a new space in RaleighDecember 9, 2011
-
COMPILED BY MARY CORNATZER, DAVID BRACKEN AND AMY RUE
Rapid Fitness has found a new home, and perhaps fittingly it's just down the street from Krispy Kreme.
The gym, which lost its downtown Raleigh location earlier this year when the building it was renting on North Street was sold, is moving to 800 N. Person St. in Raleigh. That's the space once occupied by Super Dollar. Renovations have started and so have presales.
Owner Mike Rattenni said about 500 people have signed up since the gym started selling memberships on Dec. 1. He hopes to open the gym between Feb. 15 and March 15. Among the features: personal training, group fitness, boot camp and a smoothie bar.
It will be the third Rapid Fitness in Raleigh; the others are on Glenwood Avenue near Crabtree Valley Mall and Falls of Neuse Road. A fourth is in the works for Morrisville, near the Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The new location is just down the street from the O2 Fitness in Seaboard Station, but Rattenni said there were enough people to go around.
Rattenni's original plan had been to move into the spot that once housed the Buckhead Saloon on Morgan Street, but complications arose and he walked away from the deal and into the open arms of James Goodnight, the son Jim Goodnight, the founder of the Cary software firm SAS. James Goodnight bought the Person Street property early last year through Patterson Holding LLC for $1.225 million. Rattenni said Goodnight wanted a gym for the spot, something that would fit in with the revitalization efforts under way on Person Street, and gave him a "phenomenal deal" on the rent.
Rattenni said he was working with community groups and the Downtown Raleigh Alliance on his plans for the gym and that Person Street Partnership was designing the front of the gym so it matched the surrounding area.
He expects the gym to bring 2,000 "potential retail clients" to the area each month. With that in mind, he's also considering turning the space last occupied by Rosie's Plate (a gluten-free takeout restaurant) into a bakery. "It's something my wife wants to do," he says. - Rapid Fitness Hosts Grand Opening Events for New Downtown LocationApril 23, 2010
